About the Project

Sang Tirta Resort is designed around a modern tropical resort concept that celebrates the warmth and authenticity of natural materials while embracing contemporary comfort. Inspired by traditional Indonesian architecture, the design features pitched roofs, exposed timber structures, expansive glazing, and open living spaces that create a seamless connection between the indoors and the surrounding landscape. The material palette combines natural solid wood, natural stone cladding, marble flooring, textured walls, and large glass openings, resulting in a timeless atmosphere that feels luxurious, welcoming, and deeply connected to nature.

The Challenge

The greatest challenge was incorporating a significant amount of natural wood throughout the architecture and interior while ensuring long-term performance in a humid tropical environment. Without proper treatment, timber is vulnerable to moisture absorption, termites, fungal growth, warping, and UV exposure.

The Solution

We carefully specified kiln-dried hardwood with protective exterior coatings to improve durability against humidity and sunlight. Timber was detailed with proper ventilation gaps and elevated connections to minimize direct moisture contact. For high-exposure areas, we combined solid wood with engineered wood finishes, while complementing the design with natural stone, porcelain tiles, powder-coated steel, and tempered glass—materials selected for their durability, low maintenance, and ability to preserve the warm tropical character of the resort.
